Great Dixter

A garden made famous by the late Christopher Lloyd.

The garden is built around a Lutyens house. It is actually two houses put together, refashioned and extended by Lutyens between 1910-1912.

Never one to be intimidated by the use colour Christopher Lloyd became well known not only for his mixing of colours but the quantity of plants in his design. This the famous Long Border.

Great Dixter is near Northiam in East Sussex. It is now a charitable trust under the stewardship of Lloyd’s old friend and head gardener Fergus Garrett.
